Bytecoin is being accepted more and more in online shops! (Also Bytepay just got released :D)

Good news everyone! (No I’m not an old professor)

Recently a couple of sites have started accepting Bytecoin as payment, such as this site:

http://benteachai.com/

Where you can buy…tea. I like tea so it’s good for me but for some people its not as exciting. But you can also buy some cool “luxury” stuff here at:

http://www.allthingsluxury.biz/

Now buy yourself a golden chain or something.

And Bytepay, a new payment gateway for Bytecoin was also released, which you can make an account for here:

https://www.bytepay.eu/index.html

This is the first steps for Bytecoin adoption all!

Unfortunately yes, Minergate does seem to “steal” hashes

Well, I’m not sure if stealing is the right term.

Lots of rumors about Minergate stealing hashes have been going around ever since Minergates inception. Now when I first heard about them I disregarded them considering most word I heard about it didn’t provide any evidence.

However just a day ago I tried using CCminer and CPUminer to test out a new Bytecoin mining pool (bytecoin.uk is the pool if you want to mine there as well) and well… I was quite surprised.

Now I’m not sure if using the term “stealing” is the best term to use. I don’t know what is going on under the hood as Minergate is closed source. Perhaps they lower your hashes based on Minergate fees so it more accurate in the calculator or something. It would be nice if they told us so.

But on CCminer and CPUminer combined I was getting around 450 h/s, while on Minergate the most I got was around 300 h/s. This is a very substantial increase in hashes.

So if your just mining for fun, or just to learn how the whole thing works. I would suggest to stay with Minergate for now, but sooner or later move to another mining program. If you’re running a dedicated mining rig on Minergate, move to something else because Minergate does in fact “steal” hashes.

Bytecoin value SKYROCKETED!

Well, I haven’t written in a while have I? 😛

But while I was gone some huge things happened to Bytecoin, the most prominent being that the value has suddenly skyrocketed from 30 sat (or around 0.0012 USD) to 50 and sometimes 60 sat! (around 0.0025 USD)

Now, I’m not entirely sure why there was a sudden price increase, but I’m not complaining! Hopefully, this isn’t a huge pump and there will be a steady upwards incline!

Sell and buy your Sh!t for Bytecoin!

If you’re like one of those big spenders of BCN, or you’ve mined so much BCN that you have no idea what to do with it, me too! And this site has been a ray of hope for not only uses for Bytecoin, but further the daily trade volume and will help the currency flourish!

Here is the link to the site: http://bytecoinmarket.com/index.php?

Now unfortunately, the site doesn’t really have much at the moment.  Sure it has some Fiveer like stuff on it, some items you can order to your house, heck there’s even a bundle of 18 steam game codes (may or may not be my listing)! But the quantity of this  stuff isn’t all that high. But if you have millions of BCN at your fingertips and don’t mind spending some of it, you can find some nice stuff on this site!

Bytecoin Community Manager interview (With Transcript)

Link to the interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqLWFcSUlwo

Paul: Thank you for tuning in, this is Paul Madore reporting for cryptocoins news, with Jenny Goldberg on the line. She’s the Bytecoin community leader and she’s here to talk to us today about what’s going on with Bytecoin and they have got something new coming out, and to talk about some other things and Jenny How are you?

Jenny: Hello Paul, I’m very fine. How are you?

Paul: I’m Well, thank you. So earlier this year there was an exploit in the Cryptonote protocol., I know the whole thing has been resolved and its not a thing to worry about anymore, but I was hoping to get you to address that because it hasnt really been fully spoken about in the media much, so if you could just give us a little bit on that.

Jenny: Yeah about the exploit, I’m not qualified in the technical parts a lot, so that’s why I can only give you any professional IT comments, but what I am going to tell you is that Bitcoin, the other cryptocurrency is a complicated developments as any other developing organisms sometimes they are a pure sandbox. And during the exploit there was only 3% of the total amount of Bytecoin and I know thats not a really big amount to really worry about. Of course it wasn’t good but the issue was solved. Thats what I told you about the exploit.

Paul: Alright, very well. So tell us about untraceable tokens.

Jenny: Yeah, we put all our efforts to develop a wallet integrated solution that will allow anyone to create your own Bytecoin based token. I guess it’s very very important to develop improvement program, and it will be the first completely untraceable token created under the cryptonote protocol and this tokens will be based, we will become embedded in Bytecoin wallets and other clients using the same protocol. That means the users who are willing to create your token will get already developed user-friendly ecosystem relating to their tokens, which will be very useful for them. And, maybe you have read our blog, there will be some technical issues about it, some features at untraceable payments and ring signatures and an unlinkable transactions with random data by the sender.

Paul: Okay, so  that’s interesting. So if tokens are untraceable, how you can still verify the amount of coins in this system and everything is correct right?

Jenny: Yeah.

Paul: Okay, that’s how ring signatures work, you dont have to know who is authenticating just that this thing is true and agreed upon. That’s what I know anyway from an analytic perspective. It’s very high level, very advanced technology that Cryptonote is based on.

Jenny: That’s right, That’s right.

Paul: Bytecoin being the first implementation, I don’t think anyone is surprised that it’s experienced the first problems and luckily the others get to learn from it and Bytecoin continues on.

Paul So what else is going on? What else do you have to tell us about, I heard something about a lightweight wallet and some other software coming out.

Jenny: Yes, that’s true. We have published our official road map and there’s knowledge, I got the message today from our community development that they have finished the web wallet, and now we are testing it, and yes there are some bugs. I guess we’ll fix it and maybe after tomorrow we will release our first web wallet that we created together as a community, and It will be official for Bytecoin users.

Paul: Very good. so that’s very soon and interesting. What else is going on?

Jenny: The most I can tell you about is the marketing strategy, and as you can see for the past few weeks me made great work. A new road map, and working for Linux which is very important.

Paul: And HitBTC as well correct?

Jenny: Not really, see it was their issues, and yeah it will take a while to salvage it. And it will take our whole community, and I want to thank every user who uses their efforts to help us, and of course in the future if you ever have any big ideas on how we should develop. First we are going to develop our Bytecoin brand, it’s a very important thing, and we are already in the process in building the reliable partnership and corporation. We are going to move mostly to the e-commerce, where people will be able to buy different things using only Bytecoin. It’s a very important thing for the ecosystem because now there’s almost nowhere where you can use Bytecoin.

Paul: So you can create a situation where people are only able to use Bytecoin, which would possibly increase the value.

Jenny: Yes, that’s my main idea. We will separate the different exchanges. Also a different online store, and maybe not only online I hope. And what else? We are going to create several things like T-shirts, bags, cups. I have got a lot of requests about it from our community, and I guess it’s very important for them to “touch” their coin if you know what I mean.

Paul: Sure.

Jenny: And I guess the best way for that is to create the art and everybody every person will be able to have a T-shirt of their favorite coin.

Paul: Alright, well is there anything else?

Jenny: Well we have further plans as today’s information about podcasts, as I have got a lot of questions from the community  for our team, and I guess it will be important if most of them are answered and my main idea is to create something like a podcast, we will release one in two weeks. And the idea is the community will ask questions and the most up-voted and the most popular top 5 questions will be answered. It may be as technical as marketing, any question they would like to hear.

Paul: Alright, very good. That sounds like a good idea.

Jenny: Yeah. but our main goal in marketing, is our national marketing strategy, and now we are looking for a national community manager. We are going to start with Singapore, China, Korea, Japan, Spain, and America because we will feel very strong support from that side.

Paul: Nice, So what about Venezuela or other places where they are experiencing inflation, what about Bytecoin there?

Jenny: We are on protest and we will do whatever to keep high interest in Bytecoin for sure, allow no exception. But as I will tell you the region from where we should start, Singapore, China, South America, Spain, Korea, but I guess we haven’t reviewed the community in India.

Paul: That’s a lot of people as well, so it could be a powerful network effect for the price of Bytecoin and the use of Bytecoin. I mean it’s totally imaginable now that Cryptocurrencys outside of Bitcoin even Ethereum or Litecoin would be accept. People will make their own Ethereum tokens and whatnot. It’s totally imaginable. So Bytecoin plays a role, Bytecoin and all other cryptocurrencys have a chance to seize the chance while the day is high.

Jenny: Yeah I guess we are the generation who already accepted Cryptocurrency. There are already shops in America by various different interesting staff using Bitcoin, and I guess in the future it will happen to Bytecoin, at least we are working on it.

Paul: Sure, especially if Bytecoin is able to offer their own tokens since a Coffee shop could give out tokens as a gift card or whatever.

Jenny: Yeah sure, that’s a good idea.

Paul: Well alright it’s been good talking to you Jenny Goldberg, this has been an update on Bytecoin, perhaps we will do another one later in the year to check  up on the project. How does that sound?

Jenny: Yeah that’s good thank you, it was really nice to talk to you.

Paul: Alright, have a nice day.

How to get an extra 1 to 3 kh/s for BCN! (and any other currency for that matter)

“Would you look at this! Another cloud mining scheme where I spend 6 grand and make my money back in 4 generations!”

Okay, now I know what you are thinking: “Would you look at this! Another cloud mining scheme where I spend 6 grand and make my money back in 4 generations!”, and firstly I have to say why would you spend 6 grand on cloud mining? Anyway, that’s not the point. This no Ponzi scheme and it’s not too good to be true to an extent. But now you’re probably thinking: “Well System96, how do I get this elusive 1-3 kh/s?” Well, the answer is: hire slave labor and force them to manually mine BCN The wonders of cloud computing! More specifically The wonders of free trials of cloud computing!

Now you must be thinking “What the hell is cloud computing?” Well, to be simple it’s just big companies with lots of computers selling their computers for people to do whatever they need on, like running a server for example. But instead of being ethical fellows with good moral fiber and a strong moral compass, we’re gonna go the Scrooge McDuck way and use it to mine tons of BCN!

Now first of all we’re gonna be using the cloud computing service, Microsoft Azure because it’s easy to use and you get 200$ dollars of free credit to do all your mining with! Now I suggest you make another Microsoft account to avoid getting banned on your main one if it does happen. So first go to Mircosoft Azure website, here.

Then you’re gonna make a Microsoft Azure account, you’re gonna have to use your phone number for this so you’re gonna only be able to use this service once after the trial is done unless you have multiple phone numbers. And for credit card information, to avoid Microsoft billing you thousands of dollars for that 64 core 1 TB ram monster mining at 44 th/s, you’re gonna want to use an empty prepaid visa card or something similar for the credit card info. Microsoft Azure will accept it like a normal debit or credit card.

Now once you’ve made your account and you are on the dashboard, go over to the left and create a new resource. Click computing and Virtual machine. Do a Windows 2016 server because Linux is for casul scrubs who drink estus when they get invaded. After you set it up and it deploys click the connect button and you’ll download a file that will allow you to have a direct connection to the virtual machine. Now when I set up my VM I was only able to have one with a maximum of 4 cores to my dismay, however, my friend tried it and he was able to use a 16 core monster of a VM dishing out almost 600 h/s! So what I’m saying is processor core count may vary.

Now before loading up the VM right click the connection file, click edit, go to resources and allow it to access your computers hard drives. Make sure you have Minergate (or any miner that you can mine your cryptocurrency of choice) setup file on your computer before you load the VM.

Once you have loaded the VM you’ll notice that the VM is slow as hell! I’ve heard that this varies from service to service but just installing minergate can take up to 15 minutes to load the necessary files! To access your computers hard drive on the VM go to computer and a option to go into your drive should be there, navigate to where your Minergate setup file is and run and install it.

After you install it, run Minergate or your miner of choice and start mining at BCN. Now if you were locked at only being able to use 4 cores on your machine you’ll only be getting around 120 h/s. “Then how do you get 1-3 kh/s!?” Well heres the kicker: You have to setup 10 to 26 VMs each dishing around 120 h/s. That means you have to go through the long process of doing all that waiting just to get 1-3 kh/s. Now if your allowed to get 16 core computers for your VM, well set up 10 or 20 and you’ll get around 3-6 kh/s.

So all in all this way isnt the best way to boost your hash rate but it can boost it…for a while at least. I got all my VMs shutdown after two consectitive days of mining, and I got a total of around 2000 BCN. So give or take you’ll get around that amount from this whole thing. But if you wanna get some free BCN without spending a dime, this is a pretty good way in all honesty.

Bytecoin Minergate Mobile Benchmarks?!

So if you’re like me and get angry at every object in your house and think to yourself, “This thing is useless, it should be mining!”, then this article is great minds like ourselves. Or just hyper obsessive people, either will do.

So what mobile devices did I use? Well, I was lucky enough to get my hands on some high-end stuff as well as some low end not so good stuff too. First let’s start with the lowest end of the spectrum, my LG K10 phone. It dishes out a whopping… 10-15 h/s. Not that good and makes my phone hotter than a wood stove but if you really want that extra hashing power I suppose you could whip out your old phone.

Next up the hashing power ladder is my LG tablet that I can’t remember the model. But it’s a low-end one so that’s a good enough name for it. It dishes out a 15 to 17 h/s which is impressive for a mobile device. I actually have it running 24/7 mining because I don’t really use it all that often. Let’s just hope it doesn’t blow up!

Another step up on the hash ladder is a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet. It’s a huge tablet, almost the size of a small monitor and it whips out a good 30-40 h/s. This is actually not too bad and you can mine a decent amount of BCN if you leave it running 24/7. And want to use an expensive tablet as a miner and an improvised bomb.

And at the top of the ladder, the current god of smartphones: The Samsung Galaxy s8. And color me surprised, this thing gave a total of 45-55 H/s! That’s more than my crappy laptop with an i3! It truly shows the power of the s8, but can it run Crysis 3 is the true question.

So whats the moral of the story with this one? Well if you happen to have some low-end Android devices laying around, or for whatever reason a bunch of Samsung s8’s, you can get a decent hash rate with them! Or you could just sell them and buy BCN. Take your pick.

Bytecoin Team releases source code for GUI wallet and update!

Today the Bytecoin team not only updated the GUI wallet for Bytecoin, they finally released the source code of the Bytecoin GUI wallet. This means that all of the software (including bytecoin itself) is now open source and will give a lot of credibility to Bytecoin, as there was a lot of complaints of the bytecoin wallet not being open source. We hope that this will draw some people into joining the BCN community and possibly even raise the value of Bytecoin!
